Aarke Purifier: identify the vessel before comparing prices

This guide covers the standard Aarke Purifier, not Purifier Large. The linked Amazon title rounds the filtered capacity to 1.2 litres; Aarke’s specification gives 1.18 litres filtered within 2.36 litres total. A different listing describing roughly 2.4 litres may be quoting the total rather than a larger ready-to-pour reservoir.

Those numbers make the standard model better suited to smaller servings than several large bottles together. Two 500ml bottles need one litre, within its nominal filtered capacity. Two 750ml bottles need 1.5 litres and therefore require more than one stated reservoir. Do not pay for a total-capacity number expecting it all to be filtered and waiting below the cartridge.

Aarke’s standard and Large vessels can share the refill family without sharing dimensions or capacity. Keep the selected model name, pack contents and price together when comparing offers. A starter jug with one refill bag is a different first purchase from a jug-plus-three-pack bundle.

Pure vs Enriched: choose a purpose before a pack

The Purifier uses Aarke’s measured refill granules in its reusable steel filter, called ReFilter. You retain that filter body and add fresh media according to the instructions. It is a different maintenance routine from lifting out a sealed cartridge and dropping in a new one.

Pure is the relevant option for limescale reduction. Aarke lists ion-exchange resin and activated carbon for this refill and states a maximum of 120 litres or four weeks per bag. Its stated purposes include reducing limescale, chlorine and certain metals. We do not turn those manufacturer statements into a claim that the jug treats every possible water problem.

For Aarke Purifier and Purifier Large. Pure is the limescale-reducing option; do not substitute Enriched when scale reduction is the priority.

Enriched has a different purpose: it adds magnesium and changes pH. Aarke’s own comparison says it does not reduce limescale. It should therefore not be selected as though it were just another pack colour for a hard-water kettle problem. There is no need to attach a health benefit to a preference for mineral-enriched water.

Use the supported Aarke refills for the Purifier system. Loose carbon, generic ion-exchange material or another brand’s granules are not established as equivalent by these specifications. A shell that can physically hold media does not prove the correct dose, mixture or treatment result.

What the refillable routine actually involves

Before the first use, follow the supplied setup instructions for the filter and vessel. At each media change, dispose of the used contents as directed, clean the relevant components and install a complete fresh dose according to the manual. Refilling is a planned maintenance task; topping up old media does not create a fresh full service interval.

The lid’s manual reminder helps you keep track of the replacement routine. It does not directly measure water quality or remaining media performance. Keep a note of both the time since the last dose and the water use that could reach the litre limit first. Treat any earlier instruction in the supplied pack as controlling.

Follow Aarke’s component-specific cleaning guidance. The steel and glass construction does not justify any improvised chemical cleaning or heating method. Do not copy another jug’s instructions for lids, seals or reusable cartridges. If the instruction sheet supplied with your model differs from an online summary, use the current official guidance for that exact version.

Refill granules change the ownership routine as well as the consumable you buy. Consider whether you are happy to handle measured bags and clean the retained filter, rather than choosing a refillable system solely because it appears to eliminate cartridge maintenance.

Check the handle width and water load

The 12cm body diameter is not the whole footprint. Aarke lists width including the handle at 17.1cm, so use that figure as well as the 27.5cm height when planning shelf space. Leave room to grip, lift and remove the lid. Curved door compartments and retaining rails can still obstruct a vessel whose base seems small enough.

The stated empty weight is 1.1kg. With 1.18 litres of water in the filtered reservoir, the calculated combined weight is approximately 2.28kg, before any additional water in the upper section. The calculation assumes roughly one kilogram per litre and excludes water in the upper section; consider your full filling and lifting routine.

Think about where you will pour and wash as well as where the jug will rest. A stable worktop position can be more useful than a cramped fridge door. If you need a more generous filtered reservoir, compare glass jug options or investigate the separately specified Large model rather than assuming a different total-capacity label refers to the same product.

Count refill bags, not replacement steel filters

One three-bag Pure pack provides three media changes. At the four-week limit it represents up to 12 weeks, rather than three guaranteed calendar months. High daily use can reach 120 litres sooner: at six litres per day, the litre limit arrives in 20 days. The reusable shell does not remove recurring media spending.

For a deliberately hypothetical example, suppose three Pure bags cost £18, giving £6 per dose. At two litres daily, the 28-day limit controls, and the annualised media cost is about £78.21. At six litres daily, a 20-day volume limit gives about £109.50. These are invented prices for explaining the calculation, not current offers or a guaranteed operating cost.

Enter your real delivered pack price in the running-cost calculator, select custom limits and use 120 litres and 28 days for the stated Pure maximum. Keep the original jug purchase separate and account for any shorter replacement instruction. A rounded annual estimate is useful for comparison; buying whole packs changes the timing of payments.

Aarke is most persuasive when you value the glass-and-steel construction and are comfortable with its refill routine and capacity. If you mainly want the lowest starting spend or several litres ready at once, compare a wider set of containers before choosing. The general jug guide and hard-water shortlist answer those different priorities.

Questions before you buy

Is the standard Purifier a 1.2-litre or 2.4-litre jug?

Those rounded labels can describe different compartments. Aarke specifies 1.18 litres filtered and 2.36 litres total for the standard model.

Does Enriched reduce limescale like Pure?

Aarke’s official comparison lists limescale reduction for Pure and says Enriched does not reduce limescale. They serve different purposes.

How long does one Pure refill bag last?

The stated maximum is 120 litres or four weeks, using whichever arrives first and following any earlier instruction applicable to your conditions.

Do I replace the steel ReFilter every four weeks?

Routine replacement concerns the media dose in the retained filter. Follow the manual for care of the steel component and replacement if it is damaged or otherwise requires it.

Is the jug 12cm wide including the handle?

No. Aarke lists a 12cm body diameter and 17.1cm width including the handle. Use the overall measurement when planning storage.
