Three countertop RO options for different routines

Choose a countertop reverse-osmosis filter because its treatment and daily routine fit your needs, rather than because it has the longest list of stages. Our UK shortlist uses manufacturer documentation and exact Amazon product identities.

The compact Waterdrop C1H is the starting point for heated water and a smaller footprint. K19-HG suits a larger feed-water fill and a mineralising cartridge. A2 is the option here when active chilling matters. The older K19-H is marked discontinued on Waterdrop’s UK comparison, so it is not presented as a current recommendation.

These are refillable countertop systems, not devices connected permanently to the kitchen supply. Their convenience comes with carrying water, emptying the remaining concentrate and washing removable parts. For that trade-off against a plumbed unit, read countertop vs under-sink RO.

C1H: consider it when worktop size comes first

The C1H UK/EU manual gives dimensions of 297 × 211 × 348mm in length, width and height order. Mark that body footprint on the counter, then allow additional room to remove the tank, open the top, change the filter and position a cup. A closed appliance fitting beneath a cupboard does not prove you can refill it comfortably there.

Compact hot-water RO

Waterdrop C1H hot countertop RO

A compact refillable RO appliance for a smaller worktop, with heating and a separate removable one-litre pure-water tank.

Capacity / pack
3.2L feed · 1L pure tank
System / cartridge
C1RF

Good forCompact footprint and heated filtered water.

Watch forA feed-tank fill is not the same volume of ready drinking water.

Choose it when avoiding fixed plumbing matters and you can empty the concentrate, refill and clean the tanks regularly. It has no built-in chiller.

Its 3.2-litre feed tank and one-litre pure-water tank describe different stages of the process. Neither means an uninterrupted 3.2 litres of drinking water at the outlet. The detachable pure vessel can be refrigerated separately, but the appliance is not an active water chiller. Avoid choosing it for cold-water demand on the strength of a picture showing a jug inside a fridge.

Check that the selected product is the UK electrical version and confirm the temperatures offered by its supplied controls. Manufacturer pages can mix regional imagery and units; the rating label and matching manual take priority for installation and operation.

K19-HG: a larger fill and a different cartridge

K19-HG uses the mineralising K19RFG cartridge. That final letter matters: the legacy K19RF name belongs to a different replacement listing. Treat a bundle’s filter identity as part of the purchase decision, not a minor accessory detail to resolve after the appliance arrives.

Larger hot-water RO

Waterdrop K19-HG mineralising hot countertop RO

A refillable hot-water RO model with a five-litre feed tank and a mineralising K19RFG replacement cartridge.

Capacity / pack
5L feed tank; not treated yield
System / cartridge
K19RFG

Good forA larger feed tank and mineralising cartridge.

Watch forManufacturer web and UK manual dimensions differ; measure the supplied version.

Choose it for a larger feed reservoir and adjustable hot-water settings. Confirm the full HG suffix; the older K19-H and its K19RF are different products.

The UK manual shows ambient, 45°C, 85°C and 95°C presets, with selected portions from 150ml to 750ml. Those are control settings; delivered temperature depends on the operating conditions. The manual explains that heat loss and the receiving container can affect the delivered temperature. Check the drink or cooking task rather than describing every heated setting as boiling.

There is a measurement discrepancy worth resolving before ordering: the UK manual gives 380 × 200 × 400mm, while the UK product page gives 350 × 200 × 415mm. Confirm the actual supplied version with the seller or manufacturer and allow working clearance. Mineral addition can also raise conductivity after treatment; an exact-zero TDS target is not an appropriate ownership rule.

A2: choose it for active cooling, with recovery time allowed

A2 combines RO with heating and active chilling. Its UK manual lists a 4.7-litre feed tank and one-litre pure-water tank, with body dimensions of 403.9 × 208.3 × 398.8mm in length, width and height order. The extra function is useful only if the cold reserve and recovery suit consecutive servings in your household.

Hot and chilled RO

Waterdrop A2 hot-and-cold countertop RO

A refillable RO dispenser that adds active chilling as well as heating, with a separate one-litre pure-water tank.

Capacity / pack
4.7L feed · 1L pure tank
System / cartridge
A2RF

Good forBoth heated and actively chilled water.

Watch forChilled supply and recovery are finite; nominal RO production is not cold serving speed.

Choose it if chilled water is a priority and you accept ventilation space, cooling recovery, electricity use and routine concentrate disposal.

View on Amazon ↗Selected A2, not A2G; verify UK model and included A2RF.

Do not read a nominal 100GPD membrane production figure as a promise of instant cold-water delivery. Treatment production, stored drinking water and chilled serving speed are separate measures. Check ventilation, the manufacturer’s settling instructions after transport and access to both tanks. A2G and A1 are separate models; their specifications and replacements should not be transferred to this A2 listing.

Check replacement cost and water handling before buying

Price a full ownership year using the exact cartridge, delivery charges, actual change schedule and any electricity needed for heating or chilling. A nominal twelve-month filter cycle depends on water and use; it is not permission to ignore an earlier warning or the manual’s conditions. Record the installed code and set a replacement reminder when fitting it.

C1H replacement

A stated 3:1 pure-to-drain ratio means three litres treated for one litre of concentrate under the stated conditions. It does not mean three litres of feed produces three litres to drink. Flushing and actual operation affect household yield. Read the tank and reject-water guide before deciding whether manual filling is acceptable.

Finally, match treatment to a defined concern. Read your supplier’s report and the certification-checking guide, then verify the exact model and named reduction claim. NSF/ANSI 372 concerns material lead content; it is not a blanket contaminant-removal certificate. None of these recommendations establishes that an unknown or microbiologically unsafe supply is suitable to use.

Common questions

Is a countertop RO filter the same as a filtered hot-water dispenser?

No. RO uses a membrane and produces a concentrate stream. Cartridge-filter appliances such as Aurora and the original Cube are different technologies and do not become RO because they heat water.

Which shortlisted model actively chills water?

The selected A2 has active cooling. C1H and K19-HG are heated-water options without a built-in chiller; putting a removable vessel in a fridge is a separate step.

Does a five-litre feed tank give five litres to drink?

No. Some feed water becomes concentrate, and flushing also uses water. Feed volume is different from treated-water storage and useful yield.

Can I fit K19RF in K19-HG?

Do not assume compatibility. The current K19-HG documentation specifies K19RFG, while K19RF is the named legacy K19-H replacement. Match the complete code.

Does NSF/ANSI 372 prove removal of a particular contaminant?

No. It concerns the lead content of wetted components. Verify the exact model, named reduction claim and conditions in a current independent listing or performance sheet.
