GROHE Blue Pure buying guide: tap options, filter choices and installation requirements

Choose a GROHE Blue Pure tap and matching filter starter set, with checks for water paths, cabinet space, connections, maintenance and replacement costs.

An unbranded chrome three-way tap with a glass and carafe beside a pale stone sink

Blue Pure tap-only and starter-kit listings are different purchases

GROHE Blue Pure combines a conventional kitchen mixer with a separately controlled filtered-water path. It is worth considering when you want drinking water from the main tap rather than a jug or another small tap beside the sink. The important purchase decision is the complete arrangement below the worktop, not just the shape above it.

The selected chrome Minta 30588000 listing is the tap-only version. Its description identifies a high L-spout, a 150° swivel and a requirement for a filter starter set. A replacement cartridge on its own does not supply the head, meter and connection parts needed to turn that purchase into an installed filtration system.

Tap-only option

GROHE Blue Pure Minta 30588000 · tap only

A Blue Pure three-way tap with separate filtered-water control and regular mixer function; the selected listing is the chrome tap-only version.

Capacity / format
Minta L-spout · 150° swivel
Cartridge / pack
Separate filter starter set required

Good forA single tap for regular mixed and separately filtered water.

Watch forThis 30588000 listing requires an additional filter starter set.

Choose it when a separate compatible filter starter set is part of the installation plan. It does not include a chiller, carbonator or boiling-water boiler.

GROHE also documents complete starter-kit model numbers, including Minta 30589000 with an S-size filter arrangement. Do not assume a similar photograph means two listings contain the same equipment. Read the model number, selected finish, filter type and component list together; a tap-only discount can be misleading if the rest of the installation has not been priced.

Choose the filter purpose before choosing its size

Blue Pure describes the dispensing arrangement, not one universal treatment specification. The S, M and L cartridges provide their specified taste and carbonate-hardness treatment. Activated carbon is a different, taste-focused option. Magnesium + Zinc and UltraSafe are specialist choices with their own conditions, claims and replacement limits.

Complete S-filter starter

GROHE Blue S-size filter starter set 40438001

The selected starter set combines a filter head, S-size cartridge and flow meter rather than just a replacement cartridge.

Capacity / format

Cartridge / pack
Head + S cartridge + flow meter

Good forStarting the specified S-filter arrangement.

Watch forA replacement S cartridge alone does not supply the head or meter.

Consider it with a compatible Blue Pure tap-only purchase after checking the complete installation and supplied connection parts.

The selected S starter set’s reference capacity is 600 litres at 20°dKH. That is a condition attached to a cartridge specification, not a promise of 600 litres in every home. Identify your water concern and follow the head and meter setup required for the chosen cartridge. Our GROHE Blue compatibility guide compares the codes and limits in detail.

Taste-focused cartridge

GROHE Blue activated-carbon 40547001

The activated-carbon Blue option targets taste and odour concerns rather than providing the S/M/L carbonate-hardness treatment.

Watch forDo not buy it as an equivalent limescale-reduction replacement.

Consider it where the appliance permits it and the treatment purpose fits. Confirm the separate flow-meter setting rather than carrying over a scale-filter setup.

Do not substitute the carbon cartridge simply to obtain a larger headline capacity if scale reduction is the objective. Equally, a specialist mineral-adding cartridge is not an RO membrane. A separate RO starter arrangement changes the equipment and maintenance commitment; it should not be treated as another interchangeable cylinder beneath the same tap.

Standard Blue Pure cartridge filtration does not actively chill, carbonate or boil the water. Those functions belong to separately specified equipment and other water-system arrangements. Regular hot water still depends on the household’s existing hot supply. Keep that distinction clear when comparing Blue Pure with Blue Home, Professional, Red or a hot-water dispenser.

Measure the tap position and the service space together

Check the exact model’s dimensional drawing against the sink bowl, splashback, wall and any opening window. Allow the filtered-water control and mixer lever to move fully. Think about where a large pan or carafe will sit and whether the spout can reach a useful part of the bowl without splashing over the edge.

Below the sink, identify a supported position for the head, cartridge and meter with access to the required controls. Include hose bends, existing waste fittings, bins and appliance hoses. A cartridge can fit in an empty cupboard yet become impossible to remove after the rest of the kitchen equipment is returned.

Leave additional working space for replacement and a container to catch residual water. The drawing of a cartridge alone is not the complete installed envelope. Use the under-sink measuring guide to record body size, connections and removal access before ordering a larger replacement type.

Give the installer the complete model and component list

Ask an appropriate installer to assess the supply, pressure, mounting and connection requirements for the actual kit. The selected tap description identifies 3/8-inch tails; that does not establish a ready fit to every UK kitchen connection. The required adapters, isolation and any pressure-control or backflow provisions belong in the installation plan.

Confirm whether existing valves can be accessed and operated, whether the fixing is suitable for the sink or worktop and whether hoses can be routed without strain. A three-way tap may avoid a second drinking-water hole, but replacing the existing mixer is still plumbing work. For a rented property, resolve permission and reinstatement before arranging it.

Use the manufacturer instructions and the installation planning checklist rather than improvising connections from a retailer photograph. Initial commissioning, leak checks, cartridge flushing and meter programming should be included in the handover. Request the exact manuals, cartridge code and isolation locations as part of that record.

Budget for the complete first year and future cartridge changes

Add the tap, compatible starter set, any approved installation parts and labour before comparing the purchase price with another system. Then budget for the exact replacement cartridge, its actual time and volume limit, delivery charges and routine care. Supplied cartridges reduce an initial shopping bill; they do not establish the ongoing annual cost.

At four litres of filtered use per day, a nominal 600-litre capacity corresponds to 150 days before allowing for the specification’s conditions and any earlier limit. Lower use may make the calendar limit more important. Use the running-cost calculator with the limits for the selected cartridge rather than its default jug settings.

Maintain the head and meter according to the matching manual. The cited activated-carbon instructions use a 360-day setting and require a reset after replacement; other filter types need their own setup. A battery-powered reminder is not a water-quality measurement, and clearing it cannot renew the cartridge.

If flow later falls, use the under-sink fault-finding guide before buying a larger filter. Capacity, pressure and plumbing are different issues. A successful purchase is an arrangement that addresses your water concern and remains accessible to maintain, rather than one that merely looks compact in a product picture.

Common questions

Does Blue Pure dispense chilled or sparkling water?

A standard Blue Pure cartridge-filter arrangement provides filtered water at the incoming supply temperature. Chilling, carbonation and boiling require separately specified equipment; do not transfer Blue Home, Professional or Red features to Pure.

Does the selected Minta include a filter?

The linked 30588000 is the tap-only listing. A compatible complete starter set is an additional purchase. Check the selected variation and every included component before ordering.

Can I buy an S replacement cartridge to start the system?

A replacement cartridge alone does not provide the required filter head, flow meter or installation parts. The selected 40438001 starter set is a different product.

Do I need another hole for drinking water?

A three-way tap combines regular mixing and filtered dispensing in one tap body, but the existing mounting hole, fixing access and connections still need to suit the exact model.

Is Blue Pure reverse osmosis?

Not automatically. S-size, activated-carbon and other cartridge arrangements differ from the separately specified RO starter systems. Identify the complete filter system before comparing treatment claims.
