BRITA ON TAP cartridge compatibility by generation
Match BRITA ON TAP V and V-MF refills to the correct housing generation, understand the pre-2019 exclusion and compare replacement packs.

The ON TAP name covers different generations
Before ordering a tap-filter refill, find the full system name on the housing, original box or manual. Note whether it is described as ON TAP V, Pro V-MF, HF or an older ON TAP. A display style can help you locate the correct documentation, but appearance alone is not the compatibility decision.
The current BRITA V-MF page names its supported families and expressly excludes pre-2019 ON TAP systems. It includes current ON TAP and ON TAP Pro and the compatible earlier HF digital-display family. Confirm your exact housing against that information and its manual; do not extend the shared ON TAP name to every historical unit.
The manufacturer’s 2019 cut-off is a model-generation boundary. A second-hand purchase date does not prove when a system was released. If you inherited the filter with a kitchen or no longer have the box, identify the model and ask BRITA if the documentation remains uncertain.
| System information | What to check | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Current ON TAP / ON TAP Pro | Exact model in the refill fit list | Investigate the documented current-family refill |
| Earlier ON TAP HF digital-display family | Full model and current compatibility list | V-MF guidance includes the named compatible family |
| Pre-2019 ON TAP | Original manual and manufacturer support | Current V-MF guidance excludes it |
| Generation unknown | Housing label and photographs | Resolve identity before ordering |
V and V-MF: fit is not the same as performance
BRITA describes the V-MF refill as using the V filter medium with an additional microfiltration membrane. That difference matters when comparing the specific claims attached to each version. A housing that can accept a documented alternative refill does not turn every cartridge into the membrane-equipped type.
For a household maintaining a confirmed compatible system, the V-MF two-pack below is a replacement option. Check that the selected item is the refill pack, not a complete tap-filter unit or an older-generation cartridge. Retain the exact pack name with your housing model for the next purchase.
BRITA ON TAP V-MF · 2 pack
A two-cartridge replacement pack for the compatible ON TAP family. Keep the V-MF name alongside the system model when comparing refill listings.

Watch forNot a jug refill; check your system generation.
BRITA lists cross-compatibility with ON TAP V, Pro V-MF and the earlier HF with digital display. It excludes ON TAP versions from before 2019.
Do not choose V-MF because you want a softener-like effect on kettle scale. BRITA’s product information explicitly says it does not reduce limescale. Taste-focused filtration, membrane claims and carbonate-hardness reduction should be compared separately. The MAXTRA PRO purpose comparison describes a different jug-based cartridge decision.
Keep tap compatibility separate from cartridge compatibility
A correct refill does not establish that a complete tap-mounted system can be attached to any kitchen tap. Outlet threads, adapters, clearance and pull-out or spray designs are a different check. If you already have a correctly installed unit, the refill task is about its housing; if you are buying the system for the first time, start with the tap and under-sink overview.
Likewise, do not place an ON TAP refill in an under-sink BRITA housing because both are sold as tap solutions. The housing and its manual determine the family. The compatibility directory separates the main refill types covered here.
Plan the change from the actual instructions
The V-MF specification gives up to four months or 600 litres. Track the limit applicable to your actual cartridge and system; a manual reminder, electronic display and written calendar record are different ways to manage the same ownership task. A display is not proof that every possible substance is still being reduced.
For a cost estimate, use the real delivered pack price divided by the cartridge count. Enter the correct time and volume limits in the calculator’s custom mode. Because months vary in length, use a calendar reminder for the actual replacement date rather than treating a rounded day estimate as an instruction to delay a change.
When changing the cartridge
Use the model manual’s procedure, including water selection, pressure relief if specified, cover removal, seal checks, flushing and indicator reset. The official Pro V-MF manual is a reference for that model, rather than a universal set of steps for every ON TAP generation.
If the new refill does not seat or the cover does not close normally, stop and recheck the identity. Avoid forcing threads or assuming a seal can compensate for a different cartridge. If an older model is excluded from the current fit list, seek the correct support route before deciding whether a whole-system replacement is necessary.
Keep drinking-water operating instructions separate from hot-water cleaning or bypass settings. Follow the temperature and mode limits for the exact unit. An apparently convenient setting is not permission to send hot water through a cartridge intended for cold-water filtration.
For a supported current housing, follow the ON TAP cartridge replacement instructions. Compare the V and Pro V-MF systems if you are choosing a new attachment rather than a refill.
Questions before you buy
Does the current V-MF refill fit every ON TAP ever sold?
No. BRITA’s current compatibility information excludes ON TAP systems released before 2019. Read the exact model manual and current cartridge fit list before buying a refill for an older unit.
Are ON TAP V and V-MF the same filter?
They share a compatible system family where documented, but V-MF adds a microfiltration membrane. Physical cross-compatibility does not mean the two cartridges make identical reduction claims.
Can an ON TAP cartridge replace MAXTRA PRO?
No. ON TAP is a tap-mounted housing family. MAXTRA PRO is a jug cartridge and MicroDisc is another device format. Their similar brand names do not make the refills interchangeable.
Will a V-MF cartridge reduce kettle limescale?
BRITA’s specification says no limescale reduction for this cartridge. If carbonate-hardness reduction is your main purpose, compare a system and refill designed for that task rather than selecting by litre capacity.
Does a two-pack mean eight guaranteed months?
No. The specification gives up to four months or 600 litres per cartridge, subject to the actual instructions and use. If the volume limit arrives earlier, the replacement routine is shorter. The pack count is not a guarantee of elapsed service life.
