Water filter help

Where to start with cartridge replacement, product support and water-supply concerns.

Choose help by the system and symptom

Keep the full product model and cartridge name to hand. Start with the symptom below and the matching manual, rather than assuming every slow filter needs a new cartridge. Routine maintenance and a suspected water-supply problem need different next steps.

Jug problems

For slow filtering, work through preparation, seating and trapped-air checks. For black specks, identify where they appear and follow the cartridge guidance before returning to normal use. Use jug cleaning for the body, funnel and lid; electronic indicators can have different washing rules.

If you have just fitted a filter, open the MAXTRA PRO preparation guide or Evolve+ preparation guide. Memo and Smart Light reset instructions belong after the real cartridge change, not in place of it.

Gravity filter problems

Use the slow gravity-flow guide for water level, preparation and ceramic checks. For wet worktops, use gravity leaks and overflows to distinguish filling, tap and seal problems. The ceramic candle cleaning guide explains why cleaning and replacement limits remain separate.

Tap-mounted and under-sink problems

Begin with adapter leaks, slow tap-filter flow or low under-sink flow. Isolate a leaking unit as its instructions direct before opening a connection. Ask a competent installer where the shut-off, fitting or operating pressure is uncertain.

Heated, chilled and RO appliances

Match the label code to the exact manual. Use model-specific descaling for supported hot-water appliance methods, and RO tank cleaning and reject-water guidance for refillable membrane systems. Do not transfer a chemical cleaning recipe between appliances.

Find a refill or the official manual

The cartridge compatibility directory is the starting point for an unknown refill. The running-cost guide helps with replacement planning once the family and limits are confirmed.

For official support, use BRITA’s FAQ and product-support routes, Aqua Optima’s serial-code downloads or the support details supplied with your exact system. Keep the model label, installed cartridge details and a description of when the fault occurs. Better Home Water provides editorial guidance; warranty claims, repairs and product-specific instructions belong with the manufacturer or retailer.

If the concern is the water supply

For a new or unexpected change in taste, smell or appearance, contact your water supplier and follow its advice. Use our supplier quality-report guide to locate the right organisation and understand what a published report covers. A domestic cartridge should not cover up an unresolved supply or plumbing issue. The Drinking Water Inspectorate consumer guidance provides further context for England and Wales.

Questions about getting help

Can you handle a product warranty claim?

No. Contact the manufacturer or retailer for your exact model. Keep the purchase details, model code and information about the fault available.

Where do I start if I cannot identify a cartridge?

Use the compatibility directory with the device label and current manual. A photograph or brand name alone may not establish the generation or connection.

Should I fit a new filter when tap water suddenly changes?

Contact the water supplier and follow its advice first. A replacement cartridge is not a way to diagnose or resolve an unknown supply problem.
