Philips jug cartridge compatibility: matching Micro X-Clean filters to your model

Find the right Philips jug cartridge using full AWP codes, Micro X-Clean family instructions and pack labels. Avoid bottle, tap and instant-filter mix-ups.

Read the full Philips jug model before searching for cartridges

Start with the label on the jug or its original instructions. A code such as AWP2936BLT/10 identifies more than the words “Philips water jug”. The base number, letters and regional suffix help distinguish a vessel and revision from another with a similar appearance or rounded capacity.

Keep the jug code separate from the cartridge pack code. AWP211/10, for example, identifies a Micro X-Clean replacement pack. It is not the same kind of identifier as the jug’s AWP2936BLT/10 code. A search result containing one familiar number does not establish that you have found a matching pair.

If the label has worn away, check the original receipt, box or manual. Photograph the funnel seat and old cartridge externally and ask manufacturer support for a match if needed. Avoid opening a new multipack simply to see whether one cartridge can be made to sit in the funnel.

The older Micro X-Clean manual names a defined jug family

Philips’ cited jug-family operating instructions describe Micro X-Clean and Micro X-Clean Ultra cartridges for a list of jug base models. The list is useful identification evidence for existing owners; it is not an unlimited promise covering every current retail suffix or future product.

Base models named in the cited Philips jug manual
GroupBase codes in the documentPurchase check still required
293xAWP2933, 2935, 2936, 2937, 2938Full suffix and supported cartridge pack
294xAWP2941, 2942, 2943, 2944, 2945, 2947Full suffix and supported cartridge pack
295xAWP2951, 2952, 2953, 2954Full suffix and supported cartridge pack

Read the replacement instructions associated with your complete model. A regional document for a similarly named jug can describe a different body revision or supplied filter. Do not silently borrow dimensions, preparation steps or service ratings from a different suffix because the base code appears familiar.

Philips’ older AWP2936BLT/10 specification refers to AWP210, AWP211 and AWP212 refill families. That is a model-specific starting point. It does not prove that all products with AWP2 in their code fit the same seat, or that every later replacement naming change retains identical media performance.

Check AWP211 and mixed retail naming carefully

The linked AWP211/10 three-pack is a relevant older Micro X-Clean example. Philips UK retains its product information and labels it discontinued. A marketplace offer may still exist, but future supply and exact selected pack should be checked separately from that support page.

Read the actual selected option, not just the shared listing headline. Check filter code, count, intended jug family and seal condition. A pack of three means three cartridges; it does not establish a universal number of litres or guarantee three full calendar months under every operating condition.

Current Amazon bundles can use Taste+ in the title while retaining Micro X-Clean wording elsewhere. Do not resolve that by inventing an equivalence. Ask for the cartridge code on the supplied pack, then compare it with the full jug’s supported replacement list and its current instructions.

A retail statement such as “fits BRITA” also needs an exact scope. Different BRITA cartridge families and valve arrangements exist. A broad cross-brand phrase does not establish compatibility with every model, nor does physical fit transfer a performance claim. For that wider issue, use genuine vs compatible cartridges.

Exclude bottle, tap-mounted and instant-flow filters

Philips uses several water-filter families. GoZero bottle replacements, X-Guard tap cartridges and instant-flow device filters should not be treated as gravity-jug alternatives. Their connection, water path and operating arrangement may be entirely different.

A powered dispenser or instant pitcher may push water through a dedicated cartridge. A conventional jug relies on gravity through its specified funnel seat. Choosing by a similar cylindrical shape or by the word “clean” misses the engineering connection that determines whether untreated water can bypass the media.

Some current Philips replacement pages describe softening-focused jug filters. Check those against the complete model and pack instructions rather than assuming every softening product is the renamed version of an older Micro X-Clean cartridge. Media purpose and supported physical fit are two checks, both necessary.

For a new device rather than an existing owner’s replacement, read the Philips jug buying guide first. It separates the documented older 3.0-litre model from a current retail 2.6-litre bundle and explains why their capacity and dimension figures should not be merged.

Before fitting: verify the part, then follow its own instructions

Confirm the packaging and physical format before preparing the cartridge. Do not trim tabs, force a seat, add a homemade spacer or open a sealed cartridge to make a mismatch work. A correctly supported part should fit by the procedure shown for the jug.

Follow the cartridge’s preparation instructions, including soaking, rinsing or discarded first water where required. Use potable municipal tap water within the specified conditions. The cited Philips jug manual also says not to pour while unfiltered water remains in the hopper. That is a use instruction, not merely a cartridge compatibility detail.

Reset the replacement reminder according to the model’s controls. It is a reminder, not an independent safety sensor. Use the applicable service time and volume limits even when the jug drains quickly or the filtered water tastes normal. A reset cannot renew spent media.

Finally, save a photo of the correct cartridge code beside the full jug code. Next time, compare the replacement pack with that record instead of relying on a shortened search query. Our cartridge directory keeps Philips alongside the distinct BRITA, Aqua Optima, BWT and ZeroWater families.

Common questions

What does AWP211/10 identify?

It identifies a Philips Micro X-Clean cartridge pack, rather than the jug itself. The older UK support page describes a three-pack and labels the product discontinued.

Which jug families appear in the older Micro X-Clean manual?

The cited manual lists base models AWP2933, 2935, 2936, 2937, 2938, 2941, 2942, 2943, 2944, 2945, 2947, 2951, 2952, 2953 and 2954. Confirm the full suffix and exact replacement pack for your device.

Can I rely on “fits BRITA” in a retail title?

Not as a complete fit decision. The exact jug, seat, adapter requirements and manufacturer compatibility statement must agree. A broad title does not establish fit to every BRITA generation.

Does an AWP code beginning with 2 mean it fits every Philips jug?

No. Philips uses AWP codes across several device and cartridge families. Use the complete code and the replacement list for the specific device.

Can I refill or modify a sealed Philips cartridge?

No modification is established by the cited jug instructions. Use the complete specified cartridge and follow its preparation, service-life and disposal guidance.
