Aqua Optima Evolve+ compatibility and PerfectFit key
Check Evolve+ cartridge fit, the BRITA PerfectFit compatibility key, older packs and replacement limits before ordering filters.
Start with the jug model, not an oval shape
Evolve+ is an Aqua Optima replacement family used in its compatible jugs and selected other equipment. Its cross-brand use needs a more careful description than “fits BRITA”. Aqua Optima’s fit guidance names MAXTRA and MAXTRA+ jugs and describes the additional key for the PerfectFit jugs it covers.
This does not include every product carrying the BRITA name. A Classic jug, a MicroDisc bottle and an ON TAP housing use different formats. The cartridge directory helps identify those boundaries before you choose a pack. An accessory cannot turn Evolve+ into a cartridge for an unrelated system.
Check the model label and instructions for a jug you already own. If you are buying it second-hand or no longer have the manual, obtain the exact model information before committing to a large replacement pack. A retailer photograph of one funnel does not tell you how yours operates.

What the compatibility key changes
PerfectFit introduces a fitting requirement in the funnel. Aqua Optima supplies a key for use with the jugs identified in its instructions. Treat that key as part of the replacement purchase: identify it, retain the fitting guidance and install it as the manufacturer directs. Do not improvise an alternative piece or modify the jug to get water flowing.
Aqua Optima’s guidance distinguishes the relevant PerfectFit jugs purchased after June 2020 from older equipment. That is a manufacturer compatibility boundary, not a reliable way to identify a second-hand jug from its appearance. A purchase date can help with a manual check, but the exact device and funnel remain the useful evidence.
The difference between older and current packs matters when shopping a discounted bundle. A low price may be less attractive if an essential fitting accessory is absent. Ask about the key before opening sealed stock if the listing does not make the contents clear. Keep packaging and model information until the cartridge has been checked against the instructions.

Prepare first, then assess the fit
Follow the current cartridge preparation directions, including the specified rinse, soak or flushing steps. Preparation is not interchangeable across brands. After fitting, check that the cartridge is seated as directed and that water follows the intended route through the filter rather than an obvious gap.
If flow is slow, use the manufacturer’s troubleshooting sequence before assuming a faulty jug. If the key is missing or the cartridge cannot be seated normally, stop. Pressing harder, cutting the funnel or holding a mechanism open is not a sound solution to an uncertain match.
A compatible cartridge has its own costs and limits
Standard Evolve+ versus Evolve+ Advance
Aqua Optima describes Evolve+ Advance as its hard-water option, with a greater limescale-reduction purpose than standard Evolve+. That is a treatment choice, rather than a reason to assume a longer replacement interval. Its current UK specification also gives 100 litres or 30 days. Confirm the actual pack, device compatibility and any PerfectFit key before switching. The Amazon pack featured above is standard Evolve+, so it should not be bought as though it were Advance.
Compatibility establishes which equipment a refill can be used in. It does not establish that its filter media, reduction claims or capacity match the original brand’s cartridge. Compare the current Evolve+ instructions and specification on their own terms.
For the pack covered here, Aqua Optima gives 30 days and 100 litres. In the running-cost calculator, choose custom limits and enter those values rather than leaving MAXTRA PRO’s 28 days and 150 litres selected. The earlier limit is what matters to a planning budget.
A six-filter pack does not guarantee six calendar months at every consumption level. At four litres daily, 100 litres arrives after 25 days. At two litres daily, the 30-day limit arrives first. Delivery charges, the actual cartridge count and any subscription conditions also belong in the comparison.

Questions before you buy
Does Evolve+ fit every BRITA jug?
No universal promise should be inferred. Aqua Optima names MAXTRA, MAXTRA+ and specified PerfectFit jugs in its guidance; Classic and MicroDisc are different formats. Check your model and the key requirement.
What if my Evolve+ pack does not contain a key?
Check whether your jug requires it. Aqua Optima says older Evolve+ packs without the key do not fit the specified newer PerfectFit jugs. Seek the correct accessory or pack through the manufacturer rather than altering the funnel.
Does a compatibility key improve filtration performance?
Its role is to enable the specified fit. It does not make Evolve+ identical to MAXTRA PRO or transfer BRITA’s cartridge performance and lifetime figures to an Aqua Optima refill.
Can I leave the MAXTRA PRO settings in the calculator?
Not for Evolve+. Select custom limits and use Aqua Optima’s stated 30-day and 100-litre figures for the pack discussed here, subject to its own instructions and your water conditions.
Does slow flow prove the cartridge is incompatible?
Not on its own. Preparation, trapped air, seating and the required key can all need checking. Follow the exact Aqua Optima instructions and stop if the cartridge or accessory cannot be fitted as directed.
