Aqua Optima Lumi chiller: cooling, counter space and replacement filters

Understand Lumi WC0112’s 0.8L chilled reserve, cooling recovery, counter space, Evolve+ replacements and the differences between marketing and the latest manual.

A white unbranded water chiller beside a clear glass in a cream kitchen

Lumi is a chiller, not a hot-water appliance or RO system

Aqua Optima Lumi WC0112 is a countertop cartridge-filter dispenser with electrical cooling. It is worth considering when you want chilled glasses without dedicating a fridge shelf to a jug. It does not heat water, and its Evolve+ cartridge does not make it a reverse-osmosis system. Choose the treatment and the temperature function as separate decisions.

The selected Amazon listing advertises an 8.2-litre total capacity and includes an Evolve+ filter. Confirm the current model and pack contents before buying. Extra filters in a bundle do not increase the chilled reserve or change the cooling mechanism. Use the manual matching the appliance code for cooling and operating requirements.

Chilled cartridge-filtered water

Aqua Optima Lumi WC0112 chiller

An electrically chilled countertop cartridge-filter dispenser with a small internal cold reserve and a much larger advertised total tank capacity.

Watch forLatest Rev7 manual gives longer cooling times than the marketing page.

Choose it for repeated chilled glasses when counter space is available. Cooling recovery and the exact manual matter more than the headline total volume.

Lumi is a different purchase from the Aurora hot-and-cold dispenser. A household primarily making hot drinks may prefer a kettle and jug, or a correctly specified heated appliance. Paying for chilling only makes sense when cold serving is the task you actually want to improve.

Use the 0.8L chilled reserve for serving calculations

The internal chilled tank holds around 0.8 litres according to the manufacturer’s manual. The advertised 8.2 litres is not a ready-cold quantity. Separate total tank capacity, filtered storage and the small chilled reserve before comparing Lumi with a fridge dispenser or planning several bottles at once.

The manual also says that water must remain available in the filtered tank to dispense from the internal chilled reservoir. A large bottle can use much of that cold reserve even while the main vessel looks comfortably full. Refilling the top and waiting for filtration does not instantly restore the same amount of chilled water.

For a family filling bottles together each morning, compare the cold demand with recovery, not just daily consumption. For occasional glasses spaced through the day, the same reserve may be easier to live with. The chiller versus fridge-jug comparison develops that distinction.

Check the manual when cooling claims disagree

The product page and the latest manual linked from Aqua Optima’s downloads do not give identical cooling information. The marketing page describes faster cooling and a 12°C figure. Rev7 describes around 90 minutes initially, up to an hour thereafter for the full reserve, and uses wording about cooling relative to ambient temperature. Do not combine the fastest time from one source with the coldest interpretation of another.

Use the supplied manual for your exact unit and ask Aqua Optima to resolve an apparent mismatch before purchase if a particular temperature or recovery time is essential. Room temperature, incoming water and ventilation influence performance. Match the cooling figures to the specified model and operating conditions.

Filtered-storage wording also differs between product descriptions and manual revisions. We therefore do not use the older 5.3-litre figure or the Rev7 7.4-litre wording as proof of a single measured ready-to-drink capacity for every unit. The consistent buying point is the much smaller 0.8-litre internal cold reserve. Confirm the full storage arrangement of the version supplied.

Measure the counter and the route to the sink

Aqua Optima publishes 34.6 × 26.4 × 42.8cm for the appliance. Confirm the axis order and current version before using those numbers to decide a tight fit. Allow the manual’s ventilation clearance as well as the closed body. A chiller should not be packed tightly against a wall or surrounded by objects that obstruct its vents.

Test lid removal, upper-tank access and glass clearance at the outlet. Think about the largest bottle you intend to fill and the receiving container needed for draining. If you have to move a water-filled electrical appliance every time a tall bottle is used, the apparent space saving is unlikely to be convenient.

The vessel and wet parts need access to the sink for regular care. Choose a position with a safe, clear route for removable tanks, away from heat sources and splashing. A large nominal capacity also means additional water weight; it is not a reason to carry the assembled unit full.

Shared-kitchen dispenser

BRITA Flow 8.2L dispenser

A dispensing tank to consider when several people pour from the same place. Its larger reservoir offers more filtered water between refills than the jugs in our shortlist.

Watch forShelf space, full weight and access for cleaning.

Check a stable shelf, room above the sliding lid and space below the dispensing tap. A larger tank still uses a MAXTRA PRO cartridge with its own replacement limit.

The non-electric Flow is an alternative when refrigerated storage is the real requirement and the fridge can accommodate it. It does not actively chill on the worktop. Compare its shelf space, tap access and time in the fridge with Lumi’s counter footprint and recovery cycle.

Allow for cartridges, cleaning and restart routines

The Lumi instructions specify replacement at 100 litres or 30 days, whichever comes first. A six-pack is not necessarily six calendar months for a household filtering substantial daily volumes. Include the volume used for bottles and cooking as well as drinking glasses, and compare the price per cartridge rather than the outer pack price.

Rev7 says to wash, rinse and dry the removable upper tank, filtered-water tank and lid regularly, at least at filter changes. It specifically says not to use washing-up liquid or anything that could taint the water. The electrical body is wiped, not immersed. Follow this model’s instructions rather than transferring a jug’s dishwasher or detergent advice.

The same manual recommends using filtered water within two days. After more than 48 hours without use, it calls for two cold-water fills to be emptied before normal use resumes. For storage, empty the removable tanks and use the designated rear drain for the internal tank as directed. That internal water does not disappear simply because the top vessel looks empty.

Check the Evolve+ compatibility guide when ordering refills. Its jug-fit discussion does not replace Lumi’s appliance-specific preparation and restart instructions.

Common questions

Does Lumi boil water?

No. The WC0112 discussed here chills cartridge-filtered water. Choose a separately specified hot-water appliance if heating is required.

Can Lumi serve 8.2 litres of chilled water at once?

No. Its internal chilled reserve is around 0.8L. The larger total-capacity headline describes a different quantity and does not establish continuous cold serving speed.

Why do Lumi cooling figures differ between pages?

The product page and latest Rev7 manual give different timings and temperature wording. Use the manual supplied for your exact unit and ask Aqua Optima to resolve any mismatch before purchase.

Which cartridges should I buy?

The current product listing uses Aqua Optima Evolve+. The manual gives a 100-litre or 30-day maximum; high use can reach the volume limit earlier.

Can I wash the tanks with washing-up liquid?

The Lumi Rev7 instructions say not to use washing-up liquid or substances that could taint the water. Follow that model-specific rule, rather than transferring another dispenser’s cleaning method.
